It is PROM season! {Hair and Makeup Tips}

Posted on April 24, 2013

It is officially prom season! I am starting to see the postings here and there of girls in their colorful dresses and guys dressed to the nines in their suave tuxes. It is such an exciting time of year. Counting the days down until prom and then the summer! Who will you go with? Where will you eat? Limo? So many questions to answer so I thought I would help the ladies out a bit and share some of my go to tips for hair and makeup. One less thing to search for right!

For my senior sessions I have an amazing stylist, Katherine. She just knows how to make each girl look AMAZING! She doesn’t use a ton of makeup, but she knows how to put it on right. You can find an article in last year’s {twelve} Magazine with some great tips! Check out page 25.
{By the way, I cannot wait for this year’s edition. So many gorgeous sessions to showcase and if you get in before August your session could make the cut!}

Today I wanted to share with you my Hair and Makeup Pinterest Board!
There are so many great resources out there and Pinterest is the greatest way to save things all in one place. If you are not following KBP on Pinterest yet you should! Not only do you get to keep up with what we are doing, we also pin great outfits and inspiration for your session!
Here are a few of my newest and favorite pins that I think are great for Prom.

Another great pin is this one that shows the different ways to put on eyeliner to change or highlight the shape and size of your eyes. Love it!

Then add some color. There are a few great tutorials on adding subtle color or going all out!

Head over to the board and check out the other pins. So many fun ideas!

Don’t forget about the hair! Here are a few of my favorite hair inspirations, but there are MANY more over on the board.

I hope you find some inspiration and maybe even get inspired to try something fun for your senior session with KBP!
Some of my favorite makeup from past senior sessions came from Savannah, Emily and Lauren:)

Countdown to Baby!{When do YOU think he will arrive?}

Posted on April 12, 2013

We are so excited and so close{one month from today until my due date} to meeting baby boy  Bradley #2! That means that I will be on maternity leave soon, so please remember that I will not be booking any sessions in May. I will begin shooting again June 1st and already have sessions on the calendar so please make sure you contact me if you would like a summer session! I will be checking emails and messages and making bookings while on leave, it may just take me a bit longer to reply while I am on newborn time:)

So, with the baby arriving very soon, I thought it would be fun to run a little CONTEST and open up due date and birth stat guesses to all my KBP fans and supporters!
To “sweeten” the deal I have put together a yummy candy filled prize basket for the winner full of goodies from Sweet Spot Candy!

So, here is how it works:

1)Head over to Facebook and LIKE Kristie Bradley Photography so that you can be notified of updates and the winning announcement!
You MUST be a fan to be eligible to win the gift basket. If you do not do this step the next closest guess will be awarded.
Already a FAN, yay! You can skip to the next step:)

2) Use this link {http://www.whatsinmybelly.com/baby-pool-baby-bradley-2-886}
or the one pinned to the top of our Facebook page feed to go to our Whats in My Belly baby pool.

3) Make your guesses!

Because posts are always more fun with some pictures. Here are a few Instagram pics of my growing belly:)

I cannot wait to meet our little guy and see who makes the best guess on his arrival! Hurry go guess, he could be here any day now!! :)

Where to Find Me{Social Media and More!}

Posted on March 21, 2013

The next three weeks are going to be VERY busy around here. I have so many exciting shoots to look forward to and share! There are so many places that you can see what KBP is up to that I thought it would be great to let you all know about them. Not only do I share behind the scenes, products and sneak peeks, but in a few more months I am sure that there will be lots of squishy newborn goodness filling my feeds too:) I would love if you checked out a few of the places below and follow along in the journey!

Facebook

Probably my most frequented social media platform, Facebook is a great place to find sneak peeks, specials, updates and galleries!
You can contact me right through the contact tab also! Head over to the KBP page and LIKE it so you don’t miss out.

Pinterest

This eye candy filled site has tons of inspiration, recipes, craft ideas and photography. Specifically, I have boards that showcase my work as well as ideas for what to wear for sessions and hair and makeup tips. I have a slight obsession with Pinterest. Check it out and follow some of your favorite boards!

Instagram

Another great social media app, Instagram is a fun way to capture behind the scenes moments as well as the daily happenings of me, my family and KBP. Of course I love Instagram because it is based on photography! Snap a quick pic, upload straight to Instagram or use apps such as PicTapGo and PicStitch to add some flare and you are all set! Join me to follow the fun! You can also search tags to find out what we have been up to.

Vine

Probably the newest addition to social media, Vine is like a video version of Instagram. Location!{Choosing the Perfect Spot for Your Senior Session}

Posted on March 4, 2013

When I sit down with my clients at their pre-session consult{a great benefit of the KBP experience!} one of the first topics that comes up is location. Where we choose to shoot your senior session is so important. The location really sets the mood for the shoot and it can be a great way to incorporate your personality or a sentimental place. Here are a few ideas to start thinking about your senior session location!

YOUR HOME OR A FAMILY HOME

Sometimes a great location is right outside your front door. I have a had a few clients choose to have their sessions right in their own “backyard”. If you are considering this their are a few things I look for when choosing a location. First, I like to have a variety of areas to photograph. For example, having a buliding or structure with a cool textured wall can add something different against the woods or feild of a property.
These sessions were photographed either at the senior’s home or a family members property.

With Kennedy we were able to incorporate her race car and her sister because we shot at her and her Grandmother’s home.

With Maddie, we actually photographed at two locations. First we met at her Grandmother’s home which had some awesome vintage pieces and a gorgeous red shed. Then we headed to the family river house and totally switched the feeling to a soft summer feel on the water.

We photographed Miriam at her home so that we could include her horses.
She had some super cool trees that I got to use as well as some sentimental moments with her horse.

SHOW YOUR PERSONALITY WITH TEXTURE, COLOR OR NATURE

I have a long list of locations that I love to use and I always am looking for new ones. Sometimes a senior just wants a location that showcases their personality. We can do that through texture, nature and color.
Whether it is the city streets or the rapids of Brown’s Island choosing one of these locations can make the senior feel comfortable.

The city offers tons of textures and colors. Allison, Taylor and Chrissie all chose to shoot their sessions among the buildings and city streets.

Shelby felt more connected to nature so we headed down to Belle Isle and photographed her among the rapids and trees.

WHERE YOU SPEND YOUR TIME

Do you have a hobby or a job where you spend all your time? Is this a place that you feel really tells the story of your senior year or just you in general? Places like this are perfect for shooting senior sessions. A golf course or horse farm are a few examples from my past seniors.

These two seniors wanted to incorporate their hobby into their session. A golfer and a horse lover!

SOME OF MY FAVORITE PLACES

Not sure where to have your session? I have lots of ideas. Some of my favorites are below!

So many options! I just love looking back on all these sessions and looking forward to what is to come this year! Sessions are booking early so please contact me to get on the calendar! Now booking for June, July and August!

Featured Product{Storyboards}

Posted on February 21, 2013

One of my favorite and most popular products are storyboards. What is a storyboard? Storyboards are multiple images displayed as one item. This product is perfect for showcasing a group of your favorite images from a session. My storyboards come mounted on double weight white mat board which is about a quarter of an inch thick.
The mounting allows the storyboard to be displayed in multiple ways as well as be a high quality archival product.
Some people choose to display the storyboards on easels on a shelf or desk, but they can also fit into frames and be hung on the wall!

It was really fun for me to go back through the archives and choose some of my favorite layouts. Plus, I have added a few new layouts this year!

The 10×20 storyboard is the most popular. Here are some layout examples for two and three images!

When deciding on images for a storyboard it is important to pick ones that will work well together.
Whether it is the outfit or the location, the storyboard should flow and have a theme that showcases the images best.

Here is an option for a larger grouping, a great way to include some details.

Storyboards are also available in square formats!

For those long narrow walls there are vertical options!

And finally something I did for my end of the year holiday card I will now be offering my clients as  a special bonus item!
What a great way to display a large group of images!

I cannot wait to see what new storyboards come from my 2013 clients!
I am currently booking for April, June and July. Please book early to guarantee a spot!

Chat and Snap Winter 2013 {A Collaborative Shoot Part II}

Posted on January 22, 2013

If you missed the first post on Chat and Snap you can check it out HERE! A quick recap…Studio FBJ, Cate Gravatt Photography and myself collaborated to create a day of talking shop and refining our craft. We planned and implemented the very first Chat and Snap, choosing locations, models, props and a theme. We started the day with professional hair and makeup for the models. Joy, Cate and I styled their outfits and after a pizza lunch we headed out to the location. I cannot say enough about how wonderful these girls were. We were so lucky to have such gorgeous girls to photograph! You can follow our day on Instagram by checking out #chatandsnap and while you are there you can follow me too, @kristiebradleyphotography. Instagram is a great way to see sneak peeks, behind the scenes and even some of my daily happenings.

Lets start with Lauren! A Lee-Davis Senior, she is also a previous student of mine(I teach photography and graphic art).
Lauren is the sweetest, kindest girl and to have her in front of my camera was pure joy!

She is the perfect combination of cute and beautiful! This next set is my favorite of her images:)

Next up is Atlee High School Senior, Katie. She is such a natural beauty! I personally think she looks a bit like Hilary Swank(you do have a celebrity look alike Katie!).
Just flawless!

Cierra! A blast from the past, Cierra was a previous student of mine when I taught 7th grade art! Now a Patrick Henry High School Senior, she has grown into such a stunning young lady. I mean, her hair, her eyes, her smile…just gorgeous. She carries herself with such confidence and being around her is so much fun! I am so in awe of the young lady she has become!

And Kirsten, our second Lee-Davis High School model, is part of the KBP Spokesmodel team. Check out her themed {inspired} session. She is so incredibly stunning and a natural in front of the camera. I never get over photographing her! If you see her around ask her about the 2014 Spokesmodel program for your chance at an opportunity to have an amazing experience with KBP with themed photo shoots and your dream senior session!

My favorite of her. Breathtaking!

See! Aren’t they stunning girls!
Don’t forget we are looking to fill our 2014 Spokesmodel team. Applications will be accepted until January 31st!

Chat and Snap Winter 2013 {A Collaborative Shoot Part I}

Posted on January 20, 2013

About a month ago another local photographer and I met up to talk photography. We hadn’t met in person before, but had wanted to attend a conference together and it didn’t work out. We decided that since we couldn’t make it, we would set up our own shoot and time to “chat” about all things photography! Thus, Chat and Snap was born! Joy, of Studio FBJ and Cate of Cate Gravatt Photography and I joined forces to plan a winter themed shoot with touches of Valentine’s Day.
Locations were scouted, props were purchased, models were found and we were excited!
We are hoping to gather other photographers and have future Chap and Snap events, so keep following us so you don’t miss it!
Check out the amazing and beautiful girls we got to photograph! Part II will be coming soon with individual shots of these beauties!

Look how much fun photo sessions are! You can have your chance at shoots like this by applying to be a Spokesmodel for KBP. Apply HERE by January 31st!!
Limited spots available.
